LONG STORY SHORT
2016 was a challenging year for many, and being an Alberta-based financial institution, ATB became particularly aware of this fact in an economic sense. As a result, this years Annual needed to satisfy two main goals: First, the tone needed to be empathetic and straight-to-the-point. Second, it needed to be a "smaller footprint" publication than in years past.

Part A (the Executive Summary) was written and illustrated as the “short story” synopsis. Physically smaller, visually simplified and linguistically devoid of fluff. Part B (the Financials) was then produced as the more complex “long story." A deep-dive into the numbers to explain the big picture.

A pocket was created to hold the two pieces together as the full report, with the reduced content and smaller dimension of the "short story" contributing to a lower overall page count.
